Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in physical medicine department of Sahloul hospital during 6 months. We included major lower limb amputee aged over 18 years, operated since over 3 months. we collected socio-demographic, clinical and functional characteristics with autonomy functional score (AFS), Pohjolainen classification (PC). We used The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and body image scale (BIS) for amputee in Arabic. Results : In this study 100 amputees participated. Mean age was 56 ± 13 years, sex ratio was seven , 72 % of amputations was a consequence of infection or peripheral vascular disorder, 61 patients used a prosthesis (UP) . Over 60% were classified >III in PC, mean value of AFS was 5±2. By HADS we confirmed 64 definitive cases of anxiety and depression . BIS mean score was 60±19 [36-95] where 62% of the subjects had low BI satisfaction. An association was found between the BIS and: age (P=0,006), type of setting (P=0,004), educational level (P=0,013), occupation (P=0,007), UP (p= 0,025), depression , anxiety and functional status (p= 0,000). There was negative correlation between BIS and: HADS (r = -0,54 and r = -0,60), delay to have a prosthesis (r =-0,72) and PC (r= -0,41). ASF and walking range were positively associated to BIS ( r=0,46 , r =0,35). UP and high ASF were protector factors. Conclusions: Psychosocial adjustments should be included in amputee assessment. ) [rank_math_internal_links_processed] => Array ( [0] => 1 ) [ple-content_has_sections] => Array ( [0] => ) [_eael_post_view_count] => Array ( [0] => 21 ) [trx_addons_post_views_count] => Array ( [0] => 19 ) [ekit_post_views_count] => Array ( [0] => 19 ) [trx_addons_post_likes_count] => Array ( [0] => 0 ) )
