            [0] => Introduction:
 This report highlights the surgical management of a post-traumatic boutonniere deformity in a female judoka, presenting a unique case of extension deficit at the metacarpophalangeal joint without dislocation of the long thumb extensor tendon or valgus/varus laxity. The significance of accurately diagnosing and addressing the underlying anatomical injuries to restore thumb function is emphasized.
Case Presentation:
 We describe the case of a female judoka who sustained a post-traumatic boutonniere deformity, characterized by an inability to extend the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb. Surgical exploration revealed damage to the dorso-radial capsule and a rupture of the short extensor tendon of the thumb.
Clinical Discussion:
 The surgical intervention focused on the repair of the dorso-radial capsule and the ruptured short extensor tendon. The discussion elaborates on the surgical techniques employed to restore the anatomical structures and thereby the functional integrity of the thumb, highlighting the challenges and considerations in managing such injuries in athletes.
Conclusion:
 The successful surgical repair of the capsule and tendon injury not only restored the thumb's functionality but also underscores the importance of a tailored surgical approach in preserving the athletic careers of individuals with sports-related injuries. The case underscores the need for a nuanced understanding of the anatomical complexities in post-traumatic boutonniere deformity.
