            [0] => Introduction:

The locking of a metacarpophalangeal joint is an uncommon and poorly known condition. The locking is due entrapment of the accessory collateral ligamentto The main differential diagnosis is trigger finger.

Material and methods:

We report a serie of 22 cases, treated between 2005 and 2023 at our departement, we studied the age and the sex of the patients, whether the locking was in flexion or extension. All patients had xrays. The surgery was conducted under local anesthesia. It was either an open reduction or a closed reduction. The reoccurence was studied after a minimum of eight moths of follow-up.

Results:

10 patients were female, four patients were male , the main age was 36 year-old, the locking was spontaneous in 17 cases and post-traumatic in 5 cases. The blockage was in flexion in 18 cases and in extension in 4 cases. The x-rays were normal in 15 cases and showed bump of the head of the metacarpal bone in 7 cases . The reduction was spontaneous in one case, through closed reduction in 17 cases and through open reduction in 4 cases. There were no case of recurrence

Conclusion:

The managment of the locking of a metacarpophalangeal joint is usually not complicated a better knowledge of the entity allows a better managment of these cases
